APGOCATS will be holding a policy update meeting on 28 October where we will discuss some of the key areas and their progress, including the Renters’ Rights Bill, the Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Bill, and the need for cat breeding regulations.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Cats (APGOCATS) has now been re-established following the inaugural meeting which took place on Tuesday 12 November 2024 in Parliament.
It is great to have the group restarted in the new Parliament to support discussion and debate about what politicians and the Government can do to further feline welfare.
Following a vote at the meeting, Johanna Baxter MP was elected to the position of Chair and Cat Eccles MP, Lord Black of Brentwood, Lord Goddard of Stockport were elected to the positions of Vice Chairs.
There was also a policy discussion at the meeting which covered key areas including preventing cat and kitten smuggling, calls for regulating cat breeding, banning the use of electronic shock collars on cats and dogs, and pet-friendly housing.
The group also discussed areas of focus for APGOCATS in the future and future meetings.
